Below is a copy of our AccuWeb Help text, presented in a simple FAQ format.
Web Site Text
What goes in this section?
Any text that you want to see on the website.
Can i have categories and sub-categories?
Yes, you can have categories, sub categories and even sub-sub categories, in fact theoretically you can go on forever, although if you follow good practice guidelines no information should be more than 3 clicks deep.
What can i have at each level?
At each category level you can have an 'introduction' or 'home page' area where you can add text and images. Also at each category level you can create and attach 'articles' which again can contain images and text.
What happens if i want a category in the menu to jump to another page on the website or on another website?
Simply paste the link into the field called 'Override Link'
What happens if i want the menu to stay 'expanded' and display the sub categories on the website?
No problem, simply tick the box that says 'show other items'.
Can i customize the Metatags for the individual categories?
Yes simply enter the Title, Description and Keywords in the fields provided and this will 'over ride any default metatags entered.
Can i have a different image at the top of different categories?
Yes, if your web designer has configured your website for this, simply upload the correct sized image into the header image file.
Can i have a category on my website that cannot be seen by casual visitors?
Yes indeed, tick the field 'Hidden in menu'. This will prevent the category from displaying in the menu.
Section Settings
Can i give specific people the authority to add content onto the website.
You can allocate specific categories of the site to 'Contributors' to add and edit the content.
Do the 'Contributors' add the content live to the site?
This is your choice, you can either allow them to add content live to the site or you can queue their content to be approved by an Administrator before it goes live.
Is their any communication with 'Contributors'.
In this case they will receive an e mail message to say their articles have been received and after approval another one to say it has been approved.
Can i edit these messages?
Yes you can, in the 'Section Settings' there are two fields for e mail messages.
How are the images resized that are attached to articles?
In the section settings you can edit the sizes they are resized to when they are uploaded, but by default they are 100x66, 250x166, and 800x600 pixels.
To whom are messages sent when an article is added and awaiting approval?.
You can enter the receivers e mail address (normally an Administrator) in the E Mail Address Field.
What are Business Listings?
This section allows businesses to submit themselves online (or via an Administrator), obtain a password and update their details thereafter.
But i am not interested in Businesses.
It could also be a Community Group, or even a Property, a Supplier or even a Customer. Anything that can be displayed with 4 images, contact details and descriptive text.
Do businesses go 'live' as soon as they have submitted their details?
You have the choice in this section to prevent busineses going live after they submit themselves and after they have updated their own details by ticking the fields 'Disable businesses from going live immediately' and '....immediately after changes'.
How are businesses kept informed about their approval status?
In this section you can enter e mail messages that are automatically sent to them after they have submitted their details online, after they have been approved and after they have updated themselves.
What size are the images after they are submitted?
Here you can decide what the images are resized to, default settings are 100x66, 250x166, 800x600 pixels.
How is the website Administrator kept informed when businesses submit or update their details online?
E Mail address field sends copies of all messages to the email address entered (usually the Website Administrators).
What is a Category and a Sub Category?
For example in tourism 2 categories may be Activities and Attractions. Activities may have the Sub Categories Golf, Hiking, Horse Riding, Surfing etc etc.
OK but i dont need to be so detailed, can i live with just a single category?
Unfortunately no. Even if you only have a single category ie Hotels, you will still have to create a Sub Category Hotels and assign it to the category Hotels. Its just the way the system works
Property Listings - Not yet available.
General Settings
What can I do with Administrator Settings?
In here you can add the default Keywords, Descriptions and Title Metatags. These will be used on pages where no Metatags are manually entered.
What are the rest of the settings?
These allow the WebMaster to define folders where uploaded content is stored.
What can I do in the Section XML Settings?
This will be used by the WebMaster in the case where they may want to draw onto the site live feeds of data from the InterNETalia Database ie Entertainment, Events, Attraction, Activities and Accommodation.
What is a Guest Book?
In this section either a web viewer can make a comment online, or an Administrator can manually insert a 'Customer Comment' into the website.
What is the Guestbook 'Categories'?
You can if you wish have different categories of Guestbook comments, allowing visitors for example to post comments in the 'Accommodation' section or the 'Restaurant' section.
Explain the Customer Management Section
In this section anyone who uses the Contact Us form and asks to be entered into the 'Priority Customer' section automatically has their details entered here.
Can I also add them manually?
Yes indeed, in fact it is far more likely that customers will sign up 'offline' (ie in a Guests Comments Card') than they will online, so someone will have the job of entering the comments.
What are the Categories for?
You may elect to sub divide your customers into different categories ie Business Users, Golfers, Leisure Centre Users etc.
Photo Albums
What can I do here?
You can create different 'albums' containing images
How do I create an album?
Simply click on insert album and add all the details including a image for the album.
What size shall I upload the images at?
The images will be resized on the way up, so it doesn’t really matter, but it would make sense to add them at a size no bigger than 800 x 600 pixels.
Events Table
What is the Events Table?
Allows you to create events with a title, from/to date, location and description and image.
Online Marketing
What can I do in here?
From this location you can send either E Mails or SMS text messages to the customers in your Customer Management Database
How does the SMS system work?
The system is linked to a third party such as Esendex by your web designer.
Do I have to pay for this?
You don’t pay us, but you do have to pay for the SMS messages (ie 30€ for 250 messages)
Staff Rota
What is a Staff Rota?
This section allows you to build a Staff Rota ie You can enter departments, employees and their mobile numbers, and then send their working times to them via SMS Messaging.
How does the SMS System work?
Its has to be connected by your Web Designer to a SMS System such as Esendex
What happens if I amend a single persons Rota, can I send it to just one employee?
Yes the system allows you to select a single employee to send an SMS to.
Can I e mail employees if I want to?
Yes, when you send the alert you have the opportunity to send an E Mail also.
Great, but what happens if I only want to print it out and not use the SMS System?
No problem, select the Print Rota Sheet and a Date Range and print the Rota on your own printer.
Text an Employee
The Staff Rota sounds great, but can I also send a 'general' message to employees?
Yes, you can send a message to an individual employee or a group message to all employees.
Other Features
Can I upload files onto the site?
Yes indeed using the File Uploader you can upload any type of file onto the website ie PDF File, Images.
Where will it appear on the site?
The File Uploader simply gets the file onto the server, It will not appear anywhere until you make a link from the page where you want it to appear (either by linking from an image or a piece of text) to the file name that you receive after uploading a file.
